To be mindful of other people's welfare & ensure that everyone around me adhered to COVID-19 rules

The essence of investment .

That self-employment is one of the best forms of employment ever

To be self-driven. I personally learnt how to prepare soap detergents as well as supplying them to various households

I have impacted

Households in Jua kali, Lwanda , Nyayo Tea zone and Joyland

I have impacted 70+ households

In 2020 :

I learnt to be flexible, adaptable and be grateful for the smallest of things.
I learnt to be aware and proud of how other people are trying to encourage each other amid adversity, to keep going and to do better.

I survived 2020

By the grace of God. It's been a tough year for everyone and I'm grateful God sustained me.
By having friends and family who have supported me and created a safe space for me to be vulnerable.

By giving back to the community. Having an overflowing cup requires me to share my joy with others, however I can.

In 2020 I impacted

Over 300 mothers, through social gatherings. My joy being the positive response from the mothers. Behaviour change is possible, and most people are really willing to learn, sometimes they don't get the chance to, but when they do, they are grateful for the opportunity.

Our Hero For The Day : Zedrick Ikhokoro.

This is his story, be inspired, we know we are!

When COVID19 was declared a pandemic, I lost my job, and life has not been a walk in the park. As I did odd jobs to survive, until I came across the Heroes 4 Change program. They were looking for volunteers and I heeded to the call. Nothing beats the experience of helping to curb the spread of COVID 19 in Kenya, and now, the very thing that threatened to de-stabilize my life, became the one thing that gave me life.

I have impacted households through religious institutions by showing them how to wash their hands and making it a daily practice. This experience has made me stronger and eager to learn.

I have survived 2020 through the grace of God, and the Heroes 4 Change. A program that gave me a chance to be a hero and impact positive change in the community.

We know 2020 was not easy for most of us. As #Heroes4Change we are thankful that in our own small way, we made a monumental impact in someone's life!

Poverty drives our society to ignorance on handwashing.

We can make an impact in the society to advance reproductive maternal and new-born health if we start from community level empowerment.

Volunteering is a life changing experience.

I Survived by

Giving of my time, to help the community. Making a change in someone else's life was the impetus I needed, to move forward.

I Impacted

300 households in different sub counties.

- Life needs sacrifices, (time , energy) strive to be the change in someone's life

- In life if you can't fly, run, If you can't ran, walk, it you can't walk, crawl, so long as you are moving. With a simple action you can make a change in life.

- Allow change to be a part of your daily life

I survived by

- Hardwork and never losing hope

- Being ready to accept change all the time

I impacted

- Lives and saving many more through the transformative behaviour of handwashing

- Lives by driving hope to those who had already lost hope, through the H4C program, they were able to see the light again.
